Wilbur Junior Renfrow, 79, formerly of Dallas Center, died Friday, June 17, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, at Brethren Cemetery east of Dallas Center.

Wilbur was born the son of Luther Roy and Mildred Pauline House Renfrow on April 16, 1926, in Granger, Iowa. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in United States Army. Wilbur married Nancy Louise Shiery on July 1, 1949 in Dallas Center, where they made their home before moving to Adel, 25 years ago. He was self-employed as a poultry man.

For several years, Wilbur was in a Blue Grass Band; for one of his many loves was music. Wilbur was a former member of the United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the American Legion both of Dallas Center.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 56 years, Nancy Renfrow of Adel; two sons, Daniel D. Renfrow and his wife Martha of Dallas Center and David N. Renfrow and his wife Sue of Adel; one grandson, Roger W. Renfrow and his wife Lynne of Perry; four step-grandchildren, Nicole Renfrow of Adel, Riley Renfrow of Asheville, NC, Justin Merical & Matt Merical both of Adel; one brother, William E. Renfrow of Adel; one sister, Wilma L. Bender of Jefferson, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. on Monday, June 20, at Brandt’s Funeral Home in Dallas Center, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
