Obituary

Bill Leasure, 87, passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 at home. Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, July 9, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles, Iowa.

Bill was born in Cumberland, MD, but lived most of his life in Des Moines. He was employed in wholesale credit management and accounting until the last ten years in the workforce. Bill retired from the Army National Guard as an accounting technician.

Bill was a member for Grace United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Waveland Park Masonic Lodge and the Des Moines Organ Club. He served in the US Army from 1943 – 1946. He was a lifetime member of the 17th Airborne Division and the 82nd Airborne Division. After retirement he enjoyed painting, reading, travel, playing the organ and being a volunteer at the Gold Star Museum at Camp Dodge.

Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia, and his son, Jim Leasure, both of Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gold Star Museum.
