Bill Davis, 75, formerly of Boone and Urbandale, died peacefully in his home Thursday, November 13, 2003 from lung and liver cancer. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone.

Bill was born January 1, 1928 in Boone, Iowa to Alfred and Ruth Davis. He attended Boone area schools and entered the Navy in 1945, serving in the Seabees. He later served as a paratrooper in the 11th Ranger Infantry Company during the Korean War. Bill started his career with Northwestern Bell in 1947, retiring in 1983 as a project engineer in Des Moines. He later worked for Iowa Network Systems in West Des Moines, Iowa. He married Virginia Erickson on November 18, 1955 in Boone, Iowa.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight, Kiwanis Club, Telephone Pioneers of America, VFW, American Legion, Toastmasters International and a parishioner of St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Parachute, CO. He will be remembered as a gentle and understanding man. Most of all he is known for his love of golf and nature.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wonderful wife, three sisters, one brother, a great-niece and one sister- in-law. He is survived by his son, Dan (Manuel Carrillo) of Denver, CO, numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorial donations are suggested to Roaring Fork Hospice, PO Box 1970, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601.
