Obituary

Wilson Wisecup, 86, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005 from cancer at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 22 at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Wilson was born and raised in Luther, Iowa, and graduated from Luther High School in 1936. He was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps and had flown 65 combat missions in the European Theatre during WWII. Wilson married Bylle Sexauer on April 20, 1947 in Madrid, Iowa. He farmed in Madrid and New Virginia, Iowa and retired as a Machinist at John Deere Des Moines Works in 1983.

Following his retirement, Wilson enjoyed working in the yard at home and the monthly breakfasts with his fellow retirees at the HyVee in Ankeny. He was a member of Boline-Manfredi V.F.W. Post 9662, United Auto Workers Local #450 and 451st Bomb Squadron Association.

Wilson is survived by his wife, Bylle; his children, Sheila Videbeck of Des Moines, Michael Wisecup of Johnston and Tim Wisecup of Ankeny; his brother, Clarence Wisecup, Jr. of Luther; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence, Sr. and Maude (Zenor) Wisecup; four brothers;, Jerald, Chad, Lloyd and Everett; and one sister, Velma.
