Janith Phyllis Davidson, 89, died on August 4, 2018 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

She is survived by her children, Dana (Olivier) Theveneau of Entrecasteaux, France, Bradley (Sherry) Davidson Leawood, KS and Mimi (Corey) Sommers (Scottsdale, AZ) and son-in-law Scott Shindler. Janith was a proud Grandmother to Lea Theveneau Taieb ,Hannah Theveneau, Ryan, Brianna & Jason Shindler, Michael (Leah) Davidson, Ariella Davidson and Elliot Sommers and Great Grandmother to Liv Lieveloo-Theveneau & Juliette Taieb of France and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Marvin Davidson and her daughter, Karen Shindler as well as her parents Joseph Benjamin and Anna Gross (Cohen) of St. Louis, Missouri.

Janith was born in South Bend, Indiana and moved with her family that included 7 brothers and sisters to St. Louis when she was 3 years old. She graduated from Soldan High School in St. Louis and then moved to Des Moines soon after her marriage to Marvin and built a beautiful life raising their children. While in Des Moines, Janith was very active in a variety of charity organizations including Vice President of B’nai Brith -Women Organization and the Sisterhood at Tifereth Israel Synagogue. In the 1980’s they moved to California and eventually opened the Davidson French Antique Company which operated for a number of years. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed interior decorating, playing Mah-Jongg and celebrating life.

Funeral services will be gravesite on Wednesday, August 8th at 3pm at Jewish Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to the American Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Jewish National Fund.
