Anna Marie Wise, 93, passed away August 5, 2018 at her home in the Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee, IA.

Anna Marie was born May 1, 1925 to Charles and GrasonPeitzman. She joined her older sisters, Genevieve and Alma, at their farm home east of Grimes, Iowa. After graduating from Grimes High School in 1943, she spent four years working at Banker’s Life Co. in Des Moines. On September 20, 1947, she married Leonard Wise and became a devoted and a hard working wife on their farm east of Minburn. She was a loving mother to their five children, Charles, Vicki, Sandra, Donald, and Daniel. She returned to Banker’s Life in Sept. 1969 and retired in Dec. 1987 from what was then Principal Financial Group. She and Leonard lived on their farm 64 years until they both moved to the Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee in August, 2011.

Anna Marie’s caring and gentle spirit endeared her to all that knew her. She took great pride in her family and was proud of all their accomplishments. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, needlework, and reading but her greatest joy were the visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and playing games with them. She enjoyed keeping in contact with family and friends via her iPad. She and Leonard were enthusiastic supporters of Iowa State University where all five of their children and one grandson attended. Many memories were made while fishing with family and friends as well as during trips to Canada, Alaska, Arizona, and to their lakeside cabin in northern Minnesota.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Chuck (Pat) Wise, Vicki (Rick) Buck, Sandy (Lance) Nelson, and Don (Debbie) Wise; nine grandchildren: Heather, Matt, Becky, Bethany, Sharla, Shauna, Seth, Michael, and Brian; twelve great-grandchildren; along with other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 yrs., her parents, one brother, Delmer, and two sisters: Genevieve Groundwater and Alma Hodgson; her son, Danny: one grandson, Ricky Buck; and one granddaughter, Stacey Nelson.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Church of the Brethren in Dallas Center. Interment will be at Brethren Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Friday, August 10 at Iles Brandt Chapel, Dallas Center. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
