Obituary

Marian Lois (Davis) Stoner was born on December 12, 1923, in Grand Junction, IA to Harry and Esther Davis. She passed into the hands of Our Lord at the age of 94 on September 10, 2018, surrounded by members of her beloved family.

Marian moved to Des Moines after high school to attend American Institute of Business. It was in Des Moines that she met the love of her life, Jack Stoner. They were married on June 19, 1943 in E. Lansing, MI where Jack was stationed with the Army Air Corps. She worked as a secretary for American Republic Insurance, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the Internal Revenue Service before retiring in 1979.

After retirement the Stoners moved to Shell Knob, MO on beautiful Table Rock Lake, where they lived until moving back to Des Moines in 1993. Marian enjoyed crafting, bridge and made many beautiful quilts that the family will enjoy for generations. She was also an avid golfer taking it up in retirement and even had 3 holes-in-one! She enjoyed watching and rooting for the Cyclones, Bulldogs and Hawkeyes on TV, as well as the family favorite Chicago Cubs. She especially enjoyed attending her kids and grandkids activities, and when that became impossible, their visits. The Stoners were long time members of First Christian Church in Des Moines.

Marian now joins her husband Jack, who passed away in October, 2014 for eternity. At his passing they had been married for 71 years.
Marian is survived by her children, Dennis (Pam) Stoner of Phoenix, AZ, Susan (Jack) Huff of Naples, FL, and John (Carla) Stoner of West Des Moines, 3 grandchildren, Wendy (Kelly) Hansen-Penman of Carlisle, Jeremy ( Christina) Stoner of Denver, CO, and Brian (Sarah) Huff of Norwalk, and 4 great-grandchildren, Danica and Aurdina Penman, and Carter and Beckely Huff.

The family wishes to express how grateful they are for the wonderful, compassionate care she received.
No services are planned and the family asks that any contributions be made to First Christian Church, Edencrest Assisted Living in Johnston, or Care Initiatives Hospice of WDM.
