Glenn H. Roberts, 95, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018, in West Des Moines. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Des Moines, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be held in Cerro Gordo, IL at a later date.

Glenn was born May 17, 1923, in Webb, IA, to Marcellus and Grace (Holman) Roberts, was raised and educated in Illinois and received his BA in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Champaign. He was a proud alumni and created an annual scholarship in journalism there. Glenn has been very involved in many business and community organizations. Glenn was past president of Des Moines Press and Radio Club, Newspaper Research Council, Iowa Chapter of American Marketing Assn., IMR/Opinion Research, and Des Moines Community Playhouse. He was a member the Des Moines Rotary Club and the Iowa Mountaineers for ten years and climbed in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Glenn received the Sidney Goldish Award in 1976.
He was employed by the Des Moines Register for 40 years, retiring in 1985 as Vice President of Research and Director of the Iowa Poll. In retirement Glenn continued contributing his expertise in polling and research.

Glenn enjoyed collecting art throughout his life and in his 90’s he started creating his own art drawing on his experiences traveling the world. He was able to exhibit his art one last time on October 26, 2018. Glenn loved the Chicago Cubs and was elated to witness them win a World Series.

Glenn is survived by his nieces and nephews, Juanita Walder nee Roberts, of New Lenox, IL, Beverly Ashworth nee Kleinjan, of Placentia, CA, Eileen Rassen nee Kleinjan of Troutman, NC, Joanne McCarthy nee Roberts of Tinley Park, IL, Marilynn (Tony) Burda nee Roberts of Oak Park, IL, Richard Roberts of Seneca, IL, and Mont R. (Gina) Roberts of East Lansing, MI. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dorothy Nelson, his siblings, Ruth Kleinjan, Vere “Scotty” and Mont Roberts; and nieces, Billie Jean Fogle nee Kleinjan, Melanie Mase nee Roberts, and Maureen Roberts.

Glenn was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle, great-uncle, great-great-uncle, great-great-great-uncle and friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
