Obituary

Pacific Song Vang (Ntxhoo Vaj), passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 29, 2019, at his home in Des Moines, IA, with his family by his side.

Song was born May 5, 1954, in Dong Dang, Xieng Khouang, Laos to Na Her (Nom Hawj Vaj) and Yer Vu (Ntxawm Vwj) and received his High School diploma in Nam Hia, Saybory, Laos. He was a soldier with the Hmong "Secret Army" (Special Guerilla Unit) with US Allied Forces during the Secret War in Laos and came to the United States in 1975, as a Hmong refugee.

He made his home in Santa Ana, CA (1976-1979), Chicago, IL (1980-1983) and Des Moines, IA (1983-current). He most recently worked as a Coating Color Specialist for the Siegwerk Company.

Song married in July of 1983 in Chicago, IL to Pa Nhia Yang (Paj Nyiag Yaj) and moved to Des Moines, IA where they raised their family.

Song was a lifelong Christian with the Hmong Christian and Missionary Alliance and supporter of higher education and democracy.

In his free time he enjoyed airplanes, going to air shows, NASCAR, fishing, hunting, being outdoors, listening to music, photography, doing word searches and puzzles, painting, drawing, carpentry, singing, dancing, joking around, road trips, history, collecting, attending church and spending time with his family.

Song was preceded in death by his father, Na Her (Nom Hawj Vaj), and most recently by his brother Randy Vang (Meng Vaj), who passed away in March, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pa Nhia Yang (Paj Nyiag Yaj), four children: Fueche Vang (Fwj Chim), Seashia Vang (Xis Siab), Jiear (Vang) Rueschhoff (Ntsa Iab), and Naipong Vang (Nai Phoo), and granddaughter Jemma Kashia (Kaj Siab) Rueschhoff. Song also leaves behind his mother, Yer Vu (Ntxawm Vwj), brother Tong Vang (Toog Vaj), sister Sia Vang (Xia Vaj) and half brothers and sisters.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
