Obituary

Nanley Marian Larkpor, age 35, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Des Moines, Iowa on June 23, 2021, due to diabetic complications. She was born on February 6, 1986, in Montserrado, Liberia to James Larkpor and Josephine Karngar who preceded her in death.

Marian spent her early childhood in Monrovia, a year in Accra, Ghana before traveling to the United States in November of 1996 along with her siblings. They settled in Philadelphia, PA with their dad till his demise in May 1999.

Following the death of her father, Marian had to face life challenges as a teenager including being separated from her siblings and loved ones. This took a toll on her but she boldly embraced the conditions at hand and pursue to make an impact on her environment by opening her arms to friends and young people in need. She lived a selfless life.

Marian was kind, compassionate, and a devoted mother who centered her life on her children. She spent every day caring for her children and adoring them with every breath. Marian experienced many life challenges and faced them head-on with incredible strength and determination. Marian was courageous. Despite the battle with her health, she continued to give her utmost best to ensure her children and loved ones were well taken care of. She will be remembered as a great mother and a lady who did not see being ill as a barrier to showing affection to people who crossed her path. Looking back, we are now beginning to understand how much she had to overcome and endure to be the person she was.

Marian lived a life of passion and acceptance for all people. She was kind, loving, and loved by so many. She mothered everyone, thus earning the name “mom” from her friends, a name she took as a compliment. She always provided support for others who needed it. We will miss her smile, the laughter, advice, and most importantly her personality.

Marian leaves to mourn, her daughters, Denise Wright, Dior Wright, Devonne Wright, and Devonna Wright; her son Dejong Wright; her siblings Prince Larkpor, Saye Larkpor, Teta Towah, Anita Larkpor, Kou Larkpor, and Monirah Larkpor; several families and friends in the USA and Liberia.

We wish we had more time with her. Though we know she's at peace, it's so hard to say goodbye. Marian will forever be remembered, cherished, and loved by her family and friends. May light perpetual shine on her. Sleep On

Marian's funeral service will be live-streamed on Saturday, July 24, 2021, just before 10:00am from Dunn's Chapel. A link will be shared on her obituary from the Iles Funeral Homes website www.IlesCares.com
