Carol Irene Wilson, 88, of Ankeny, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by family on Monday, June 28th, 2021.

Carol was born on May 3rd, 1933, in Owatonna, Minnesota to Castle and Irene Wentworth. Growing up, she loved spending time with her younger sister Julie, and the two always shared a special bond. In her youth, Carol could be seen working at her family’s laundry and dry-cleaning business, singing in the choir, spending time with family, and lending a hand to others.

Carol graduated from Owatonna High School in 1951, where she sang in the choir and played trombone in the band. She attended St. Olaf’s College in Northfield, Minnesota. Carol retired as a medical technician at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in 1999. Carol married the love of her life, LeRoy Glen Wilson, on December 27th, 1955, in Owatonna, MN. They were married for nearly 66 years and were blessed with three children, Dale, Roberta, and Curtis, and they enjoyed following their accomplishments and endeavors.

Carol was passionate about many hobbies, and she loved anything that involved music but had a special passion for singing. She enjoyed playing the trombone and the guitar. Carol loved to dance at social events with friends and family and was always the life of the party. Carol loved the outdoors, swimming, boating, and she was an outstanding water-skier. She was fond of camping, backyard barbecues, and anything where family was involved. Carol was a fantastic cook and she enjoyed hosting and entertaining. She was also active in the Lutheran church and loved the Lord with all her heart. Although Carol had many hobbies and a successful career, she was most passionate about her family and loved ones.

She loved to laugh and always had a smile on her face. Carol was a joy to be around and had a true zest for life. She was incredibly beautiful, but her outward beauty was a wonderful reflection of her kind heart. Carol truly had the heart of a servant. She loved others without bounds and was a shining example of Jesus’s love for His children. Above all, Carol had a kind, genuine spirit. She was a loving wife, a dedicated mother, and a faithful friend who will be missed dearly.

Carol is survived by her husband LeRoy Wilson, her three children Dale (Samantha) Wilson of Jordan, MN, Roberta Garland of Ankeny, IA, and Curtis (Cynthia) Wilson of Ponca City, OK; her six grandchildren Drew and Sean Wilson, Alex and Bryan Garland, and Tyler and Brock Wilson, sister Julie Eskra, her sister-in-law Esther Kreisel and brother-in-law Dan (Kathy) Wilson. She will be fondly remembered by extended family and friends. Carol is preceded in death by her parents Castle and Irene Wentworth.

Carol will be laid to rest at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 34024 Veterans Memorial Dr, Adel, IA on July 21st at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Van Meter Legion at 910 Main St, Van Meter, IA immediately following the interment.
