Richard Norman Seidenfeld, 78, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Deerfield Retirement Community in Urbandale, IA. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Jewish Glendale at 11AM.

Richard was born May 18, 1943, in Des Moines, IA, to Lee and Sarah (Miller) Seidenfeld. He married Susan (Harvey) Seidenfeld and together they raised two children. In June of 2021, they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.

Richard owned and operated Seidenfeld Metal Inc., retiring in 2014. Family was the most important thing in Richard’s life, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He was a sports fan, attending the Valley High School football games and closely following Roosevelt High School football. It would please him for you to know that he stood at 5’7”, and weighed 185 pounds. He would also want you to know that he played defensive tackle for the Roosevelt Rough Riders from 1958-1961.

Richard is survived by his spouse, Susan (Harvey) Seidenfeld; children, Bradley (Fallon) Seidenfeld, and Julie Seidenfeld; three grandchildren, Olive Olsasky, Isabella Seidenfeld, and Harvey Seidenfeld; siblings, Lawrence Seidenfeld, Jamie (David) Hirshorn, Alan Seidenfeld, and Morton (Sue) Seidenfeld. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
