December 11, 1934 - August 27, 2022
Born in Kansas City
Resided in Davenport, Iowa

William (Bill) Caldwell was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 11, 1934. He was raised by his Aunt Nell and Uncle Bill Metzig. Bill and Petey made homes for their family in Omaha and Des Moines, later building their dream home in Davenport, Iowa.

Bill is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Petey; Darla Emery (Stephen), Karin Guy (David) and Kip Caldwell; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grand children.

Bill was a success. He worked hard and was successful in all his business endeavors. He worked primarily in the trucking industry rising to comptroller and regional manager. However, he felt his life’s goal and greatest success was building a family. To him, Darla, Karin and Kip were his legacy. Their success was his success too.

Bill was a winner. He gloated after golf games and smiled while passing you on skis. He bested more experienced opponents at tennis and loved challenging his friends to handball and racketball games - sometimes beating them with his left hand. Bill ran the Bix 7 Road Race many times and placed high in his age group. (The best part was the cold beer at the end of the run.) He belonged to the Corvette Club of Davenport and drove in the second place position despite being a newcomer to the sport. Whatever the sport, Bill played to win!

We will miss Dad’s Dean Martin style rendition of Happy Birthday.
Bill worked hard, played hard and loved well!
