Fred Lawrence (Larry) Roth passed away peacefully September 14, 2022 with his family by his side.

Larry was born January 19, 1942, son of Fred and Gladys (Finestead) Roth. He was a man of few words but when he spoke you wanted to listen. He was honest, faith filled and kind. He was raised in the Methodist church and grew up in the Granger Homestead, graduated from Granger High School then attended Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa. He excelled at baseball and basketball and was an avid sportsman. Larry loved to dance and met his true love Donell at a high school dance in Perry. For the next 60 years they loved and supported each other in every way. Larry was always there for everyone with a helping hand and a smile.
He loved his family and his friends, nature, hunting, fishing, waterskiing, snowmobiling, snow sledding, and he played golf in leagues for years. Larry shot a mean game of pool he loved playing pitch and cribbage at the lake. He coached Babe Ruth baseball and taught Sunday night youth group for years.

After college Larry went to work for John Deere in Ankeny. He traveled extensively to show farmers and ranchers how to use their new machinery, cotton pickers were his specialty and he worked there for 38 years. Upon retirement Larry worked for Pioneer for 10 years, he delivered flowers for Donell he also farmed for his Grandfather Martin throughout his life.

Larry enjoyed hunting with Snubs, later Duke and they happily brought home many pheasants, quails, and ducks— he once even bagged a turkey, but you will have to ask his family about that. He and Donell loved going to Minnesota to 4-point lake and later Big Deep. Days were spent skiing, nights were spent fishing and playing games. Sunday mornings were for church on the lake. Every summer the whole family got to spend time with Donell's parents on Lake Okauchee in Wisconsin.

Never a harsh word spoken, Larry believed the best in everyone. He will be deeply missed by his family and his friends.

Larry was able to remain in the home he built in 1966 because of his devoted children Julie, Kelli, and Brad.

He is survived by Julie, Kelli, and Brad (Jessica) Roth, grandchildren Dustin (Lauren), DeLanee (Kevin) DeBolt, Connor (Nyssa Larson), Andrew Roth, and his buddy Moose. His brother Danny (Rita) Roth and his sister Diana (Joe) Milkowski, Uncle Hap (Juanita) Finestead, Uncle Dale Finestead, Aunt Betty (Roily) Strutz, and extended nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bertha and Raymond Roth, Martin and Hazel Finestead, his parents Fred and Gladys Roth, and in-laws Arlis and Don Dollarhide and we can't forget Snubs, Duke,
and Biffer.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Granger United Methodist Church with burial following at Lincoln Cemetery near Granger.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
