Michael Peter Papian went to be with our Heavenly father on Sunday, November 6,2022 at the age of 89. Michael was born on June 29th, 1933 to Ray & Anna (Pagano) Papian in Des Moines Iowa.

Michael grew up in Des Moines attending St. Joseph Parish and graduated from Dowling Catholic in 1952. After graduation, Michael attended AIB and in 1954 he met the love of his life Janet Dee Baker while attending Americana School and wed on June 10th, 1955.

To start their married journey, Michael served his country for 2 years active duty in California and Germany. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Michael and Janet lived in Des Moines until 1962, then moved to Downey California and lived for 12 years. In 1974 they decided to move back to Windsor Heights where Michael continued his career in credit services where he held various leadership positions.

At the age of 59, Michael had the opportunity to live out his dream and passion serving on the Altoona Police Department as an Auxiliary Police Officer and was ever so proud to wear his badge. Michael took pride in his golf game and enjoyed traveling along the coast of California touring and playing on many professional golf courses noting Pebble Beach being his most favorite. Michael also had a love for cars and living “life in the fast lane.”

In Michael and Janet’s 67 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling the world. Their most memorable trip was to Cariati Italy to see Michael’s fathers birth place. As Michael continuously shared his never ending love for Janet, he took pride in the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary party as well as their surprise 60th wedding anniversary party.

As Michaels life journey was coming to an end, Michael and Janet moved to the home of Eddie, Brook, Jaeden, Gracen, and Taeven Lust who provided him loving care until he went to be with Jesus.

Michael was blessed by many family & friends. Michael had many Nieces and Nephews that were dear to him. These include: Donnie & Kathy Papian & Family, Doug & Kelly Tish & Family, Jamie & Marci Papian & Family, Kris Giovanninni & Family, Jon & Janet Hurd & Family, Tim & Angie Sullivan & Family, Charles & Raeann Harris & family, Ken & Sharon Mercer & Family, Rick & Barb Mercer & Family, Kirk Mercer & Family, Joe Papian (deceased) & Roni, Lynn Mercer (deceased).

Michael is survived by his wife Janet Dee Papian, 2 sister in laws, Mary Ann and Marlene Papian, brother in law Jerry Baker. Michael is proceeded in death by his parents Ray and Anna Papian, brothers Don & Lanny Papian, and in laws Mildred Baker, Ivan & Alice Baker.
