Obituary

Herman was born on March 4, 1944 in Stillwater, MN to Herman and Lydia (Rumpel) Heifort as the oldest of seven children. He attended grade school in Clitherall, MN, and as a child, he was an avid reader, and he enjoyed spending time at the lake. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Herman joined the Army in the early 60s, and afterwards, he married Mary Helen Baldridge in 1963. He had seven children, and he loved them all dearly. He spent his younger days traveling. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Houston Texans, and during his free time, he enjoyed doing newspaper crossword puzzles. You could find him watching Wheel of Fortune or The Price is Right on any given day. He also spent time caring for his animals.

Herman is survived by his five siblings, Leroy, Ruby, Paul, Carl, and Ruth; his wife, Mary Helen; his children, James (Kim) of Ottumwa, IA, Jennifer (Gary) Townsend of Des Moines, Iowa, Timothy of Ottumwa, Iowa, Jeff (Lori) of Ottumwa, Iowa, Dawn (Garry) Willier of State Center, Iowa, Ronda, and Amanda (Phil) LeGrande of Agency, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his brother, Earl; his daughter, Ronda; and his grandson, Duane.
