Richard Ginther Sr., age 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family March 14th, 2023 in Pleasant Hill, IA.

Rick was born Dec. 10th, 1947 to Betty Pennington and Everett Ginther. He was raised by his mom and stepdad, Gene Pennington. He lived his life in Des Moines, Grimes, and Pleasant Hill, IA. Rick graduated from East High School and was a true-at-heart East-sider. He worked at the Des Moines Post Office and Postal Inspectors Office his entire career and retired at age 55.

Rick loved life! He had an outgoing personality, was very quick-witted and quick to make friends. He could always make you laugh and feel like family. After a day at the post office, you could find him at the local bar drinking and joking around with friends, and perhaps, streaking down a street. He enjoyed coaching and watching softball, camping, boating, fishing, riding his Harley, spending time at Lake of the Ozarks, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. Rick was a huge animal lover and never lived a day of his life without his dogs at his side.

Rick is survived by his wife, Patty Ladurini Ginther, his daughters Lisa (Jeff) Stuart and Lorrie (Ed) Scully, sons Rick (Yvonne) Ginther and Joe Ginther, all who he shared with his first wife Pam Ginther, granddaughters Sydney Stuart, Casey Stuart, Jessie Stuart, Chelsea Scully, Macy Scully, Hailey Scully, Hannah (Lucas) Rodrigues, Vannessa (Mitch) Larson, Olivia Ginther, and grandson Joseph (Carlee) Ginther, great-grandchildren Soren Rodrigues, Vera Larson, and Asa Larson, sister Patty Ginther-Giles, and best friend Harley, his gentle giant Irish Wolfhound. He was preceded in death by his dad, stepdad, mom, brother Jerry Ginther, and sister Carol Conrad.

A memorial will be held at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home on Sunday, March 19th, with visitation at 11:00 am and service at 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Animal Rescue League, or Heinz 57.
