Obituary

Loren Varland Jacobson, age 81, of Clive, Iowa passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on May 4, 2023.

Loren was born January 29, 1942 to Ludvig and Mabel Jacobson of Rake, Iowa. He was the fifth child of 14, raised on a farm. He was active in sports and 4-H.

After graduating from Rake High School in 1961, he went on to study business at Waldorf College and then on to Augsburg college where he received his degree in 1964.

Loren met his forever love, Carolyn Limberg (1943-2022) while in high school. They dated all through college and married in 1964. Together they moved to Chicago to start their careers.

Loren worked in the insurance industry for many years, and they moved a few times as they got older and started their family of three daughters. Kris Vertin (Alan), Sue LaCroix (Steve) and Pam Lester (Brett). He finished his career in West Des Moines working as a personnel recruiter with McGladry and Pullen, and has called Clive home since then.

After retirement, he and Carolyn traveled each year they could and explored a long list of adventures. He was a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan and followed each season closely.

Another highlight for him was attending any event his grandchildren were participating in, especially Valley HS sports, but never missed a dance recital either. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, sibling and friend to many.

Loren was best known for his outgoing personality, he could strike up a conversation with anyone anytime. People loved his sense of humor. He led a successful life with loving family with many blessings. He will be missed by all, especially his six grandchildren Katie, Matthew, Jacob, Alex, Nicholas and Megan.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held in Mason City, Iowa at a later date. The family is very grateful and appreciative of the loving care Loren received at Cedar Ridge Village in West
Des Moines.
