Obituary

Keith Allen Sellers, 54, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on September 17, 2023. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23 at 2 pm, Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines, Iowa 50322. A visitation will be an hour prior to service.

Keith was born March 3, 1969 to Marcia and Glen Sellers in Des Moines, Iowa. Keith attended school in both the Johnston and Des Moines Public School Systems. Keith genuinely loved people. He never met a stranger. Whether he was hosting sessions at the skating rink; gaming with his longtime, online gaming friends; attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall; or interacting with medical staff, whenever he met a new person it was clear that he really wanted to get to know them personally. Once Keith met you he would never forget your face. When he learned your name he often would then take your name and make it his own by giving you a personal nickname.

Keith also loved sports and was always ready to give you his in-depth analysis. In the fall and winter, he would refuse to hear anything bad about his Cowboys or the Avalanche. In the spring and summer, he closely followed his Dodgers. He was always prepared to tell you how good his team was regardless of their current record.

All who knew Keith will remember his sense of humor, his captivating smile and infectious laugh.

Keith is survived by his mother, Marcia and father, Glen; three sons Chase, Donavon and Triston; one daughter Kennedy; one granddaughter Camellia; four brothers Galen, Kevin, Scott and Marlon; and three sisters Glennia, Krista and Shana; and longtime companion Katie Hoeksema. Keith is preceded in death by his grandparents.

Keith’s family would like to sincerely thank the medical and administrative staff at Broadlawns Medical Center and the many friends and relatives that supported Keith.
