Obituary

Marie Suzanne Pomerantz died peacefully on September 17. Born to Isadore and Mabel Pomerantz on December 6, 1940, Suzy was the oldest of three daughters (Leslie Ann Pomerantz and Jeri Lynn Hauptman). Married to Harold Young in 1961, they had one daughter Debra Sue Moore (Brian Moore). Suzy was a lifelong educator. She began her career as an English teacher, moved into Special Education and eventually became an assistant Principal after receiving her Doctorate degree. Suzy married Peter Spoden in 1976 and for twelve years, until Peter's death, she greatly enjoyed being a coach's wife. Her later years were enriched by the companionship of life partner Claude Gruene.

Suzy had a variety of interests and hobbies including creating stained glass windows, sewing, reading and cooking. Suzy loved decorating her home with artwork and color. She formed deep friendships with those she cared about and loved throwing dinner parties. Of great joy to her were her two grandchildren Nicholas Foster Surko and Alexandra Marie Surko.

A memorial service will be held at the Beth El section of Glendale Cemetery on Friday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m.
