Judith (Judy) Kay Isham Bowen peacefully passed away on Monday, May 13th, 2024, at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa.

Born on March 31, 1951, in Osage, Iowa, Judy was the beloved daughter of Dr. Robert (Bob) and Geraldine (Gere) Isham.

Growing up in Osage, Judy was actively involved in Girl Scouts and Luther League, where she formed many lifelong friendships. As a child, she could often be spotted riding her bike around town. Judy graduated from Osage Community High School in the spring of 1970.

Eager to explore new horizons, Judy moved to Des Moines, where she enrolled in Vocational Rehab through DMACC. There, she earned an associate's degree in early childhood development and later on clerical work, laying the foundation for her long and fulfilling career. Post-graduation, Judy began working as a file clerk at Yonkers, where she dedicated herself to her work with diligence and commitment.

Judy was a devoted member of First Federated Church of Des Moines, where she found both spiritual nourishment and lasting friendships. She actively participated in the choir and singles class groups, enriching her life through fellowship and shared experiences.

In 1986 Judy met and married John Bowen, and together they welcomed their daughter Jane into the world, a moment that brought Judy immense pride and joy.

Despite facing the challenge of breast cancer during the dissolution of her marriage, Judy remained resilient and determined. She found solace and support in a breast cancer support group, where she formed deep connections with others who shared her journey.

Judy's greatest joys in life were found in simple pleasures—attending Jane's softball games, cheering on at basketball games, dining at Village Inn, and enjoying outings to the movies. She also cherished quiet moments spent reading, playing online video games, and connecting with her cherished family and friends.

Judy is survived by her loving daughter Jane Fross, son-in-law Jeremy, and grandson Elijah and soon-to-arrive Baby Norah. She is also survived by her sister Mary Ekeland, brother-in-law Craig Ekeland, niece Amy Ekeland, brother-in-law Steven Meillier, nephew Alexander and Tanya Meillier their daughter Margaux, nephew Bennett Meillier, great niece Layla, and her special friends, Linda and Ray Wood, their daughters Marque and Julianna Wood, Mike young and Joseph Reeves.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Robert and Gere Isham, and her sister Elizabeth (Libby) Meillier.

Judy will be remembered for her unwavering strength, boundless love, and infectious smile. Her legacy of resilience and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
