Obituary

As we celebrate the life of Nyakuoth Duop Mach, she was a loving daughter, a sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, but most importantly a mother. At 26 years young, Nyakuoth passed away on April 23rd, 2024, in Peoria, IL. She was born on Sunday, February 15, 1998, in Des Moines, Iowa to Nyamal Rek Yat and Isaac Duop Mach at Mercy Hospital.

Nyakuoth was a student athlete at East High School and graduated in 2016 with her High School Diploma. After High School Nyakuoth continued her education and athletics at Pratt Community College in Pratt, KS. She then went on to Southern Maine Community College in Portland, ME the following year with the same goals ahead of her. Nyakuoth spent most of her free time raising her son, Exodus Muoch Kang, as well as being a fun auntie to her nieces and nephews. Nyakuoth was a protector and was always there for the ones she loved and needed her the most. She was always willing to lend a helping hand against all odds. Most of her free time she spent raising her son as he was her pride and joy. She loved binge watching her favorite shows, hanging out with her close friends, sisters, and sisters’ dogs. She also enjoyed cooking and making anyone in her presence smile and laugh with her humor. She was a faithful Iowa State Fair employee every summer alongside her sisters and mom and worked in nursing homes helping care for others.

As Nyakuoth grew older she became an avid reader and loved reading books. She enjoyed anything that was ever written by James Patterson, a well-known author. She aspired of writing a book about her life and life experiences and sharing it to the world. She was motivated by wanting to pursue a cosmetology license and opening her own beauty shop. She had a creative mind and paid attention to small detail in her art. She loved decorating and expressing herself through her art as well. Nyakuoth had an infectious smile and an infectious laugh that was almost guaranteed to make you laugh along with her. To the ones that knew her and loved her so deeply this was an easy task for her.

Nyakuoth is survived by the strength of her mother, Nyamal Yat; father, Isaac Mach; her son, Exodus (Muoch) and sisters, Nyahok, Nyakor, Nyariak, Nyajal, Nyaleaw, Chudear and Nyabiel. She is preceded in death by her late son, Elijiah.
