Clyde Walter Allred II, better known as “Buster,” was called to Heaven Sunday, June 2, 2024, after a courageous battle with Cortico Basal Ganglionic Degeneration.
Buster was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 2, 1950, to Clyde and Shirley (Tyler) Allred. He grew up exploring every bank and bend along Four Mile Creek. Following graduation from East High School in 1968, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. At Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, exposure to contaminated water led to his fatal disease.
On January 10, 1970, Buster and Kathy Evans were united in marriage. Together they had many adventures raising their four beloved children: Julie Ann, Christie Lee, Katie Rae, and Clyde Walter III.
Logging was Buster’s passion since the age of 16. He worked with his dad as well as many family members and friends through the years.
His love of sports included fast pitch softball, fishing, golf, horse shoes, bowling, basketball and hunting, all of which kept him busy and young at heart. One of his proudest moments was his induction into the Central Iowa Men’s Fast Pitch Hall of Fame.
Buster was a member of Heritage Assembly of God and loved to worship the Lord. He always requested page 240 in the hymnal, “Victory In Jesus” (EVERY Sunday).
Buster’s generous spirit and kind heart found the good in every person and every situation, and he will always be remembered for that. He loved his family and they will always love him.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Kathy Darlene (Evans) Allred, daughters, Julie (Kenneth) Cortum, Christie (Ronald) Brookes; son, Clyde “Bubba” Allred III; son-in-law, Rodney Dalton; grandchildren, Kenneth Cortum III, Alexander Allred, Liberty Brookes, Aurora Brookes, Emmalene Dalton, Levi Dalton; sisters, Mevalyn (Ken) Rogers, Dottie Conner, Mary Lee (Vince) Berardi; Judy Courtney; sister-in-law, Marcy Allred and brother-in-law, Dan (Shirley) Evans.
Buster is reunited in Heaven with daughter, Katie Dalton; parents Clyde and Shirley Allred; brothers, Gerald and Jack Allred; brother-in-law, Mike Conner; nieces, Stephanie Shaw, Lesa Parker, Sarah Evans; nephew Matthew Courtney; parents-in-law, Paul and Joan Evans.
The family of Buster Allred would like to thank Dr. Stanton Danielson, Dr. Debra Benjamin, the staff at the VA Hospital and Good Samaritan Society in Indianola and our ever faithful family, friends, and church family for their support, care and love during this difficult journey. We are forever grateful.
