Obituary

Anthony L. “Tony” Torgerson, 62, of West Des Moines, passed away July 21, 2024 at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines. Services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines, with a gathering for friends and family beginning at 10am, followed by a memorial service at 11am. A reception at Val Lanes Recreation Center, West Des Moines, will be held following the service.

Tony was born on March 1, 1962 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Dennis and Colleen (Boge) Torgerson. He graduated from John Glenn High School in Bay City, Michigan and attended Saginaw Valley State University, University City, Michigan. He worked in management and event planning at several Bowling Centers throughout the United States. The last 15 years, he managed, along with his parents, their family-owned Val Lanes Recreation Center in West Des Moines.

Tony loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed everything related to bowling and working on cars. Tony was a devoted friend and always available to help anyone who was in need.

Tony is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents, Dennis and Colleen Torgerson of Urbandale; his brothers, Randy Torgerson of Madison Heights, Michigan, Jon Torgerson of Norwalk, Iowa and Steven (Carrie) Torgerson of Conifer, Colorado; nieces, Kayla (Maddie) Koch, Amanda Torgerson, Lauren Torgerson, Lyndsey Torgerson and Sabrina (Eddie) Barnas; nephews, Cody (Jana) Torgerson, Bret (Abby) Harlock and Terry (Lynne) Boge; uncles, Lee Boge of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee and Darwin Torgerson of Clarion, Iowa; aunts, Marcine (Jim) Illg of Humboldt, Iowa and Sue Esser of Cherry Valley, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Myles and Marie Torgerson; maternal grandparents, Henry and Wilma Boge; a brother, Thomas Torgerson; aunt, Mary Boge; uncles, Merrill Torgerson, Ronald Boge, William Boge and Michael (Doris) Boge, Peter Esser and cousin, David Boge.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his family for a cause to be determined.
