Obituary

María Camacho, 76, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully Wednesday July 24, 2024.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, IA. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road, Des Moines, IA 50315. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.

María moved from Guadalajara, México to Iowa as a young woman. In Iowa, she met her husband, Raymond. They blended their families and were blessed to add two children. María loved to cross stitch, crochet, watch telenovelas, and eat turkey legs. She was quick to laugh and loved hosting parties for her family. María was a generous and gentle woman. Her ability to learn and resilience aided her in the successful and happy life she created for herself and family.

María was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; mother, Cesaría and father, Jesús. She leaves behind her dear friends; siblings: Manuel, Salvador, Teresa, Gracíela, Rosarío, Jesús and Ana María all of Guadalajara, México; daughters, Raquel (Jesύs) Castañeda and Romona Camacho-Aguilar (Pete) and sons, Martín (Lisa) Camacho and Raymond Camacho, Jr. (Heather); her five grandchildren, María (Franklin), Ramíro, Jesús, Betty, and Lilly and great-granddaughter Azari.
