Obituary

Margaret Mary Kane, 91, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the Madrid Home in Madrid, IA. She was born January 20, 1933, in Clinton, IA to Paul Joseph and Frieda Edith (Kunde) Zaehringer. She was the fifth born of six children.

After graduating high school, she met Eugene Ray Kane and they were married on November 24, 1956, in Clinton, IA. To that union three sons were born, Kevin, Jeff and Loren.

Margaret enjoyed crafting and always had the supplies on hand, whether for a project or fun with the grand kids. She loved to bake goodies, especially around the holidays while decorating and celebrating with friends and family. She loved her collection of angels that she would always joyfully gift to those she loved. And she was very proud of her sons, introducing them to all her friends while touting their achievements. Her sparkling eyes and comforting demeanor meant no one stayed a stranger long around Margaret.

Margaret is survived by sons, Kevin Kane (Kelly Poole), Ames, IA, Jeffrey (Leslie) Kane, Urbandale, IA, and Loren Kane (Jody Bejarano) Des Moines, IA; Grandchildren, Shannon (Sam) Schrup, Iowa City, IA, Alex Kane & Keaton Kane, Urbandale, IA, and Sean (Christine) Kane & Connor Kane, Des Moines, IA; Great Grandchildren Vivian and Henry; and her Madrid care family of nurses and staff at The Cedars and the Madrid Home as well as Mercy One Hospice. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Frieda; husband, Gene; four brothers Bud, Don, Jim, and Bill and a sister, Helen.

A prayer/memorial service will be held at the Iles Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid on Friday, September 6th, 2024, at 11am.
