Obituary

Carol A. Foreman, age 80, passed from this life and entered her Eternal home in Heaven on October 15, 2024.

Carol was born in Orange City, Iowa on November 16, 1943. She attended school in Maurice, Iowa, and graduated from MOC High School in 1961. She married Merlin Foreman on September 23, 1961, at the Maurice Reformed Church.

Carol and Merlin established their home in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended and graduated from AIB School of Business prior to the birth of their three children Lisa, Lori, and James. She was instrumental as a Homemaker and Mother, providing a loving Christian home for her family. She was an active member of Meredith Drive Reformed Church, and served as an elder, choir member, VBS Director and Sunday School Teacher. Carol participated in establishing the Women’s Bible Study Fellowship in Des Moines, and served as a Discussion Leader and Assistant Teaching Leader for 16 years.

She loved her Grandchildren, and enjoyed having them visit for VBS which they attended together. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb. She and her husband loved to travel and were privileged to do several foreign trips as well as numerous vacations throughout the United States and Canada.

Carol is survived by her husband and partner Merlin for 63 years; a daughter Lisa Parker (Craig) of Noblesville, IN, and their children Rebecca Harder (Andrew) and Shane Parker (Cassidy); a daughter Lori Van Dalen (Gary) of Newton, IA, and their children Charlie Fisette and Benjamin Van Dalen; and Kristen Ferrick (Steve) of Waukee, IA, and her children Michael Foreman (Natalie) and Ryan Foreman; three Great Grandchildren Josiah Foreman, Samantha and Hudson Harder; a brother Arlan Van Roekel (Barb) of Des Moines; a brother in law Leland Foreman (Jean) of Fremont, NE; six nieces and nephews; and fourteen great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son James; her father and mother Wallace and Arnetta Van Roekel; her father and mother in law Jacob and Alice Foreman; and her step father Robert Vander Broek.

Friends may greet the family on Friday, November 1st, 2024 at 10:00 am at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa 50266. A celebration of life service will follow visitation at 11:00 am in the Church Chapel. You are invited to a luncheon following the service. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
