Obituary

Taryn Menning, 31, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Her family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Friday, November 1st at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk, IA with a Vigil Service to follow at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10 am Saturday, November 2nd at the church. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Cumming, IA.

Taryn was born July 17, 1993 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Tim O’Tool and Tamara (Schuster) O’Tool. She graduated from St. Edmond Catholic School in 2011, Iowa Central Community College, Southeast Technical College, Kaplan University, and Chamberlain University earning her CST, RN and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree which led her to fulfill her passion of helping others while working as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. She was also able to share her warmth and skills by teaching nursing courses at Oakland University. Taryn touched countless lives with her vibrant spirit, kindness, and boundless love.

Taryn was a devoted mother to her daughter, Harper, and a faithful spouse to her husband, Alex. She had a gift for making everyone feel seen and cared for. Her selflessness was an inspiration to all those who knew her. Taryn’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she loved and in the lives she touched.

Survivors include her husband, Alex; daughter, Harper; parents: Tim (Travis) O’Tool of South Carolina, Tamara (Mark) O’Tool of Urbandale; siblings: Taylor (Tim) Schulte of Norwalk, and Tate (Leah) O’Tool of Waukee; in-laws: John and Deb Menning of Alton; brother-in-law, Josh (Anne) Menning of Denmark; grandparents: Sandra O’Tool of Ft. Dodge, Don (Donna) Schuster of Ft. Dodge. Further survivors include numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Taryn was preceded in death by her grandfather, Wayne O’Tool; uncle, Tim Schuster.
