Obituary

Jerry Hoag was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on March 8, 2025. A beloved husband, father, and friend, Jerry's legacy will live on through his devotion to his faith, his family, and the values he instilled in those who knew him.

Jerry was born on January 23, 1940 in Buffalo, NY to Norene Florence Schichtel Hoag and Harry Lincoln Hoag. One of 5 brothers, Jerry was second in line. He worked diligently throughout his academic career and graduated from East Aurora High School as valedictorian and president. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for an architecture degree and followed with an MBA from Stanford University.

Jerry entered the business world at US Steel, then was approached to be a founding partner of Robert H Hayes and Associates, a management consulting firm. Over the next 40 years Jerry was a principal partner at Towers-Perrin and AT Kearney. A second career blossomed when he became head of The Leadership Center at UT Dallas and Dean of Executive Education. He brought enthusiasm, diligence, and creativity to each role and approached all with a focus on ethical leadership.

Jerry's passion for life extended to his service work as well. He and his wife, Bette, began a program to feed the homeless that has lasted for 30 years. He has served as a board member for the Dallas Symphony, Family of the Americas, and Legatus. He was a president of La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas and Honorary Consul to Malta.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bette; their 3 children and their spouses: Susan Hoag Hancock (Lee), Jeffrey Brian Hoag (Lynn), and Elizabeth Hoag Peters (Nick); 8 grandchildren: James Garrett and Sarah Elizabeth Hancock; Samuel Howard, Peter Howard, and Claire Higgins Hoag; and Anne Louise, Andrew Gerald, and Amelia Frederick Peters; and brothers Lester and Thomas.

A rosary will be held on Monday, March 17 at 7:00pm at Calvary Hill in Dallas. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 18 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church.
