Obituary

Thomas Paul Rivituso, 78, passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at New Hope Assembly of God Church, Urbandale, with the funeral to follow beginning at 10:30. Interment will be 12:30 p.m., Tuesday at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, near Van Meter, IA.

Tom was born September 1, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York to parents, Louis and Dorothy (Pershing) Rivituso. As a child, the family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where he graduated from Hill High School in 1964. Following graduation, the family moved to Urbandale, Iowa. Following one year of college, Tom was drafted into the US Army in 1965. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1967.

In 1968, he was united in marriage to Connie Sarsfield. They made their home in Windsor Heights, Iowa, where they raised their three sons, Mark, Eric and Brad.

Tom worked as a supervisor for Armstrong and Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Following retirement, he worked for the Des Moines Public School System as a custodian. He retired in 2010. For the last 15 years, Tom and Connie enjoyed wintering in Arizona.

Tom enjoyed sports of any kind, following the Yankees, Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He coached his sons in baseball and soccer and was a past president of Windsor Little League. He also liked fishing, gardening, working in his yard and loved his dog, Willie.

Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie; sons, Eric (Donna) Rivituso of Gilbert, AZ and Brad Rivituso, Chandler, AZ; granddaughter, Tommie Rivituso who is currently attending Auburn University in Alabama; two sisters, Linda Albrecht and Gina (Joel) Mundt as well as several nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark and an infant daughter, Michelle.
