Lonnie Blair Long
October 15, 1939 - May 19, 2025

Lonnie Blair Long, 85, of Clive, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 15, 1939, in Webster City, Iowa, Lonnie was the son of Fred and Mabel Long of Stanhope, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry Long of Carroll, Iowa, and his sister Lorraine McVicker of Boone, Iowa. A Celebration of Life is from 2-4 pm Tuesday June 17, 2025 at New Beginnings Christian Church locates at 8631 Hickman Rd in Urbandale.

Lonnie is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Long; his sons Jeffrey (Jane) Long and Todd (Stacey) Long; sister Lois Danielson; cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.

For over 30 years, Lonnie worked as an insurance adjuster with General Casualty Insurance, where he was known for his integrity, diligence, and professionalism. Outside of work, his proudest accomplishments were deeply personal—raising two remarkable sons, building his family’s home with his own hands, and nurturing a loving and enduring marriage with Sandra.

An avid fisherman and lover of the outdoors, Lonnie could often be found tending to his garden or cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also found great joy in organizing the annual St. Longdrews Golf Open, a tradition beloved by many, spending time with his loving neighbors and he relished his travels to sunny Acapulco.

Lonnie will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering humility. He was thoughtful, selfless, and deeply loving—a true example of a life well lived and a heart well shared.
