Obituary

Betty J. Raker, 99, passed away on January 8, 2025, in Urbandale. She was born June 21, 1925, in Franklin County, Iowa to Jay S. and Tina (nee Olson) Wolfe.

Betty graduated high school and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Drake University. She went on to teaching in the Urbandale School System for many years.

Betty met and married Donald H Raker, Sr. and to that union four children were born, Donald Jr, James, Robert, and John. Don preceded her in death on February 3, 2010.

Betty’s passion was her teaching. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family.

All in all, she led an active and successful life - good work, good family and lots of friends, she will be greatly missed by all.

Betty is survived by her children, Don Raker, Jr., James Raker, and Robert Raker; 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; son, John.

A memorial visitation will be 10-11 AM Friday, June 20, 2025, at Iles Westover Chapel with a time of sharing at 11 AM. Betty’s remains will be interred at a later date in Resthaven Cemetery next to her husband, Don.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Unite Way in memory of Betty.
