Obituary

Carolyn Louise DePriest, 83, of Des Moines, IA, passed away on May 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving son, daughter, and daughter-in-law.

Carolyn was born on September 16, 1941, in Maryville, MO, the daughter of Melvin and Victorine Wilson.

Carolyn graduated from Jefferson High School in Conception Junction, MO in 1959. She eventually went on to receive her cosmetology license and opened her own beauty shop.

Carolyn shared her life with her husband Ronald, they married on June 24, 1961. Together Carolyn and Ronald had three children, Rhonda, Rod, and Beth. Carolyn and Ronald enjoyed traveling, watching Mizzou football, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Green Bay Packers. They even enjoyed attending the local Norwalk High School athletic games together. They also loved caring for their little dachshund, Schultz.

Equitable Life Insurance Company was Carolyn's last employer prior to her retirement. Over the years Carolyn held various jobs with one notably being a cook at Norwalk High School where her children attended. It was there that she made "wacky cake" and cooked lunches for the students.

Carolyn especially loved playing bingo and card games, reading and cooking.

Carolyn was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed attending the various outings and dressed up in her hats accordingly.

Carolyn was a woman of faith. Her relationship with Christ was important to her and she led a life of service. Be it through helping someone directly, volunteering at church or the nursing home she made herself available to serve others with a helping heart.

Remaining to cherish Carolyn's memory are her son, Rod DePriest (wife, Lisa); daughter, Beth DePriest; brother, David Wilson (wife Vickie); Joel Phipps and other nieces, nephews, and cousins as well.

Preceding Carolyn in death is her husband, Ronald DePriest; daughter, Rhonda DePriest; father, Melvin Wilson; mother, Victorine Wilson; brother, Darrell Wilson; father-in law, Edward DePriest; and mother-in-law, Bessie DePriest.
