Obituary

Diana Lynn Young, 78, passed away May 29, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born June 24, 1946, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Lester C. and Pearl L. (Brant) Snider, raised in Gridley, Kansas, later settling in Des Moines in 1964.

Diana graduated from Urbandale High School in 1967. She married Edwin A. Young and to that union three children were born, Sherry, Shelly, Edwin Jr.

Diana worked at RSM McGladrey in Des Moines for many years as an accounting secretary. She enjoyed gardening, with a special love of sunflowers and daisies; playing her favorite slot machines at Prairie Meadows, many arts and crafts such as painting, sewing and decorations for her home, often turning them into gifts for her children and grandchildren whom she enjoyed spending time with, especially during holiday, and the occasional margarita.

In 2010 Diana reunited with her high school sweetheart Roy Sleezer and the two had been together since.

Diana is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Curt) Moore of Ankeny; son, Edwin (Helen) Young, Jr. of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Danielle, Jessica, Ryan, Laney, Nicolas, Peyton, Jaime, Steven, and Skylar, and 19 great-grandchildren, who knew her as ‘Gigi’, siblings Carmen, May, Paula and Robert, and many other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Shelly and brother Ronnie.

Visitation will be 10 AM - 12 PM Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines. A luncheon will follow the visitation then a graveside service will be at 1:30 PM in Glendale Cemetery.
