Obituary

Anthony “Tony” Charles Fosselman, age 79, of Altoona, IA, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born on April 20, 1946, to parents Jim and Wyonne Fosselman. The first of five boys, life was always interesting at the Fosselman house. Tony was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and graduated from Dowling High School. He attended Drake University while working at Look Magazine. Tony worked for Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Medical Director for 30 years, where he later retired. To stay busy during retirement, Tony enjoyed handyman and construction projects.

At a young age, Tony was married to Sally, of which four children were born: Cindy, Jim, John and Kim. He later married the love of his life, Deb, and shared raising her children, Ali and Sarah. Tony was always an avid outdoorsman with a love of fishing, hunting, camping and skiing, both water and downhill. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs, and riding his Harley. Prairie Meadows was a favorite stop of his, as was spending time with family and friends. He had many passions in life and excelled at them all. He had a deep devotion to family and friends, of which he shared many experiences with. Simply put, Tony lived life.

Tony is survived by his wife, Deb; daughter, Cindy Steingrabe-Fosselman of Des Moines, IA; son, Jim Fosselman of Kingman, AZ; son, John (Misty) Fosselman of Polk City, IA; daughter, Kim Karns of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Ali (Nate Adams) Fort of Omaha, NE and daughter, Sarah (Doug) McGrail of Billings, MT; brothers, Terry, Ed, and Mike; grandchildren, Ava, Leo, Elise, Tiffany, Cody, Cass, Quincy, Teegan, Alivia, Carter, Tia, and Camdon; great grandchildren, Ashton, Milos, Toula, Anita, and Haizley; and many nieces, nephews, family, and close friends.
