Obituary

Lou Ann (Bivens) (Cooper) Hopper, a woman whose life was defined by her boundless compassion and unwavering dedication to others, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, to be with the Lord. She was born on August 6, 1946, in Albia, Iowa, to Wilber and Mildred Bivens.

After graduating from Albia High School, Lou Ann embarked on a fulfilling career as a nurse. Her journey included serving on the Younkers floor at Methodist Hospital, providing compassionate in-home nursing care, and spending several years as a traveling VA nurse in Arizona. Even while tirelessly caring for others professionally, she devoted herself to raising her three sons, Paul, Patrick, and Peter.

Lou Ann's remarkable drive led her to further her education, earning a degree in administration for care facilities and becoming a licensed administrator. Her commitment to caring for those in need extended beyond her professional life; she was known for her big heart, always ready to cook for anyone who was hungry and offer comfort.

She is survived by her loving sons, Paul (Natalee) Cooper of Norwalk, Iowa, Patrick (Shelly) Cooper of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Peter (Angie) Cooper of Norwalk, Iowa, along with her ten cherished grandchildren. Lou Ann also leaves behind her two sisters, Rita Bivens Scherer and Joni Harvey of Arizona, and her brother, Paul Peter Bivens of Massachusetts.

Lou Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew her. While no services will be held at this time, her legacy of kindness, generosity, and boundless care will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
