Obituary

Andrew Campbell Chinn, 76, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa. He was born May 3, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to Carroll and Luana (Campbell) Chinn.

Andy enlisted in the US Navy in 1970 and retired in 1990 serving on the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) as well as other postings. He settled back in Des Moines in 1990 with his wife Laraine and son Scott where they stayed. Andy continued working in Des Moines as a Data Service Technician. His special interests included computers and guitars.

Survivors include son Scott Chinn, special family member Christopher Bennett, sisters Sara Shinn and Margaret Moore, several other family members and friends. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Luana Chinn, and wife Laraine Kay (Spurgeon) Chinn in 2020.

Andy’s family will have a private birthday celebration in his honor at a later date. He was cremated and his urn will be buried on the same grave as his wife Laraine at Glendale Cemetery Des Moines in the future.
